The Hit List - Words of Wisdom for Gemini Season

The Sun changed signs a few days ago, which signaled the beginning of Gemini Season! If you’re born under the sign o’ the twins: Happy Birthday!

Gemini is the communicator of the zodiac. They love to share information and can always be counted on for the perfectly timed witty comeback. While that’s all great, this year brings some planetary challenges which could gum up the works. In a nutshell, we’re looking at a Mutable Mess (three planets and the Nodes in Gemini, Jupiter, and Neptune in Pisces), Eclipses (also in Mutable signs), and Mercury retrograde (which is one of the planets currently in Gemini). YIKES.

This means words could get twisted and cause harm. That’s no good.

Here is a little advice on how to navigate this energy and keep the drama to a minimum:

:: Choose your words with care. Think before you speak, tweet, or hit send. This means you’ll need to consider how your words might land for other people. While you may assume you’re “just speaking your truth,” have you thought about the other side? If you are only concerned with “making your point,” you could hurt someone.

:: Examine your motives for what you’re about to say. Do you want to create understanding and build trust or are you looking to sow seeds of discord? If you’re in the second camp, it’s time to check yourself before your wreck everybody else’s summer.

:: If you’re putting something out there publicly and someone calls you out, are you stopping to listen and learn – or getting defensive?

:: This brings me to my most important point: listen more than you talk. You’ll learn more that way (Gemini season is great for getting educated).

:: If there is someone in your orbit using language that hurts you, you do not need to put up with it. While it’s important to mind your own words and be a good listener, that doesn’t mean you have to allow negativity to remain in your world unchecked. Delete, mute, and block buttons exist for a reason: to give you the peace and safety you deserve.

We can tidy up the Mutable Mess if we are mindful during these few funky weeks (psst…we can be more thoughtful of our words all the time). If we all take a minute to reflect on the way our words might affect other people, we might pause before opening our mouths or clicking the mouse. That pause could prevent our words from becoming weapons. Let your words be wise and kind, my friends.

I’ll leave you with this quote from Marshall Rosenberg, the author of Nonviolent Communication:

“We are dangerous when we are not conscious of our responsibility for how we behave, think, and feel.” ― Marshall B. Rosenberg
