The Hit List - Goodbye 2016

Hey there.

I’m not doing anything today.

You, on the other hand, may be wrapped up in wrapping. Or cooking. Or obligatory visits with people you may or may not like.

But instead, I am doing a bit of reflecting and compiling a list of some things that I learned in 2016.  Because every year, there are always lessons to be learned.

Here’s my list:

Life is fleeting.

Being a published author is both exciting and terrifying.

You never know how a moment of kindness may impact someone else.

Time off is my new jam.

Time alone is essential.

Boundaries need to be strictly enforced.  Let that guard down and the vamps will rush right in.

You can be kind without being a pushover.

Good music is always coming out.

Stupid movies can still have stellar soundtracks.

Simple pleasures are the best.

Silliness is mandatory.

Obsessing over the latest season of Game of Thrones is fine. Obsessing over the past. Meh.

You can embrace technology and still have meaningful life. Don’t assume us tech fanatics are any less spiritual than you.

Being accepted isn’t always that great.  Being you, as you are, without groveling or seeking approval is better. It leads to the most important thing: self respect.

The world isn’t always neat and clean – or predictable. But even in the messy, scary, and  befuddling times, there is always hope.
