When the world feels ominous, it’s hard to find joy. Spend a few minutes doomscrolling, and any good feels are quickly replaced by gloom. It seems that this is the constant mode as of late.
However, one thing that I like to do is create reasons to feel excited. Putting fun on the calendar gives me something to look forward to. For example, Yellowjackets just premiered the third season last night. I have counted down the days for this – and wasn’t disappointed!
Here are a few other things on my something to look forward to list:
:: Teaching two classes in Chicago at the Malliway Brothers.
:: A stationery festival.
:: Visiting New York, my second home.
:: Teaching side by side with Sarah Selecky again.
:: A new book (the manuscript will be done in a few months).
:: The big 6-0.
:: The grandbaby turns 3!
:: Spring!
:: Fall!
:: 2028.
Yes, there are many reasons to anticipate the future rather than existing in constant existential dread. So what can you put on your calendar? What are some things that give you a reason to remain joyful, no matter what?
