I’ve always considered myself a classic Gemini: lots of interests, a tendency towards wanderlust, easily bored, a knack for communication plus a hatred of all things pink. Yep, that’s me in a nutshell!
But a while back, I started chatting on Twitter with Dayna Lynn Nuckolls of The People’s Oracle about Sidereal Astrology. I had noticed Dayna because of her amazingly accurate political astrology tweets (I’m seriously addicted!). When I discovered she was using the Sidereal method, I became intrigued and looked up my Sidereal chart.
WHOA.
According to this branch of astrology…I’m not a Gemini! This was like finding out that I was switched at birth! No! It couldn’t be! I identify as a Twin, not a damn bull. This is BULLSHIT. (Caps and exclamation points necessary to indicate the level of stress I felt over this discovery.)
I started to protest on Twitter. But Dayna wasn’t having none of it. My stubborn refusal to accept this Taurus thing…sounded just like a darn Taurus. ACK!
Finally, I bit the bullet and decided it was time to check this Sidereal chart stuff out once and for all directly from the expert’s mouth: I booked a session with Dayna. As the weeks crept closer, I found myself alternating between curiosity and obstinance. No way am I a damn Taurus (I tend to put damn in front of Taurus all the time, just in case you wanted to know). A Taurus? So not me. Slow-moving, set in their ways, materialistic. Nope. Not me. I’m quicksilver and on the go. Adaptable. Yep, that’s it. That’s me all right.
The day came and I was secretly convinced that I might be able to point out the flaws in Sidereal astrology’s whole thing. Alas, that didn’t happen. Dayna expertly guided me through the ins and outs of my Sidereal chart, showing me exactly how that Taurus vibe influenced every part of my makeup from my love of food and pleasure to my interest in beautiful aesthetics. DAMN. It was time to admit it: I might be a damn Taurus.
It’s so interesting to investigate things that may be contrary to what you believe. This session opened my mind and gave me a lot to think about. While I have no desire to abandon my Western Astrology in pursuit of Sidereal, I do think it’s useful and adds another layer to the complex business of being a human. No doubt I’ll be digging around in it a bit more – or keeping my eye on Dayna because she’s that good.
I’ll always consider myself a Gemini first…and maybe, maybe now a damn Taurus second. You know I’m STILL gonna resist that Sidereal stuff as much as possible. Spoken like a Taurus! Ha!
