So there’s this thing going round on Facebook (a game?) where people post a few random things about themselves and if you “like” or comment on the post, you get a number assigned to you and then you’re supposed to come up with that number’s worth of odd personal facts.

I decided rather than posting on Facebook and getting assigned a number (I am superstitious about them), I’d just post a few random Tarot Lady details here.

  1. I had my tonsils taken out twice.  I also had severe hearing issues as a child so (lucky me), I got tubes in my ears.  My hearing is still slightly off and most likely I will lose most of it as I get older.
  2. I have been doing yoga for almost two decades and teaching for ten years.
  3. I’m obsessed with slugs.  We get a lot of them in my garden and I force my husband to save ‘em from getting smooshed.  I name every one Sluggo.
  4. I love trashy reality television.  Maury paternity episodes are my favorites.
  5. When I was a little girl, I had almost no interest in girlie things.  My mother was frustrated because I hated wearing the frilly dresses she liked and instead opted for pants and a sailor shirt.  She was also disappointed that I had no interest in dolls.  I wanted a chemistry set instead. I didn’t get it.  Instead I got…you guessed it…..dolls.
  6. I had a large gap in my front teeth.  I got it closed as a teen but then it came back again after my wisdom teeth came through and pushed the gap forward.  I recently closed it again.
  7. I am a Hello Kitty fanatic.
  8. I love nothing more than getting the mail every day.  I get mad when there is a holiday and  no mail delivery.  I subscribe to a bunch of magazines to ensure I get “good mail” every day.
  9. I’m extremely sensitive to any sort of cruelty or rudeness.  When people lash out or treat others poorly, it really bothers me.  I won’t allow mean, aggressive people in my world.
  10. I’m an old skool punk rocker but I adore hip hop and gangster rap.
  11. Like any good Catholic girl, I taught CCD for a brief spell.
  12. If I wasn’t doing tarot, I would be a cartoonist, makeup artist or a personal chef.  I love to dabble in all three.
  13. I have always dated musicians.  I’m a sucker for ‘em.
  14. I adore little dogs but this house is strictly a cat zone.  My cats rule the house with iron paws and have no interest in sharing their turf with a canine.  My dream dog is a Boston Terrier.  I covet every one I see.
  15. I’m super OCD about my car – it’s ten years old but in immaculate condition.  I allow no trash or crumbs to remain long.  I cannot stand a disorderly car – or purse.  And yes, my purse is hyper organized too.
  16. I am very good at math and love to balance my checkbooks down to the penny. (I use a color code system when I balance ’em.)
  17. I am a great test taker but hate doing homework.  One of my teachers in high school was very frustrated with this and told me that he wanted to flunk me but had no choice but to pass me because I aced every single test.
  18. My favorite types of movies tend to be dark and depressing (weird since I’m rather happy go lucky).  My top two movies are Happiness and Requiem For A Dream.
  19. My children both have their Master’s Degrees. My son has a Masters in Music and my daughter has a Masters in Creative Writing.  I’m a real proud mama!
  20. I broke my leg when I was two. When I came out of the hospital, I was convinced I could not walk.  The doctor warned my mother that if I didn’t begin walking soon, I might lose my ability and be confined to a wheelchair.  My mother, sensible farm woman that she was, took me into a bedroom with a hair brush in hand. She said “get up and walk to me now or I’m going to spank you”.  The fear of an ass whooping was greater than the fear of walking – so I stood right up and walked to her, crying.
  21. I am adept at cooking Cuban food and Vietnamese.  Have not cooked either in a long time though.  (Vietnamese is my favorite cuisine, hands down.)
  22. The biggest turn off for me is jealousy.  I cannot stand being with a jealous partner and I avoid envious people like the plague.

ouijacookies I got these cool Ouija cookies from Twitter friend @Ticksmouse – they are as delicious as they are adorable!

Other stuff:

I have always been a fangirl of crusty old Bea Arthur so I was thrilled to discover Bea A Day!  Artist Michael Denison creates a different Bea themed piece of art every single day.  My favorite is the Breaking Bea one, of course!

I love America’s Next Top Model and was all amped up with this season because it was co-ed.  I was rooting for Cory all the way but (spoiler alert!)…he didn’t win.  Let down city over here.

Huffington Post put up a great list of 15 Documentaries To Watch Out For This Year.  Definitely, want to see American Commune and Sole Survivor.

Adam Levine will be named Sexiest Man Alive.  And apparently, he is a big-time sexist.  Bummer.  I do enjoy those abs.  Just sayin’.

New fact of the day: Liv Tyler’s grandmother is an etiquette expert.  And they wrote a book together: Modern Manners: Tools to Take You to the Top (PS I bought my daughter a book of manners for her birthday during a particularly awful teenage year – she loved it)

And you know I will be first in line to grab my copy of Dirty Rocker Boys, the juicy tell-all from model and rock muse, Bobbie Brown.  OMG this is going to be naughty!

Digging the new Color Elixir gloss from Maybelline.  Blush Essence 095 is my fave so far.

What I’m Grateful For:

The kindness of strangers

Long, dark winter nights

The anticipation of a new laptop

OM in the morning

Space to breathe

My baristas
