The Hit List - Does an old dog need new divination tricks?

I’ve been studying tarot and astrology for over four decades. I know a lot, but there is still so much to learn. These divinatory arts require tremendous dedication and practice. Yet, from time to time, I find myself getting a case of FOMO when other divination systems cross my timeline. Charm casting. Lenormand. This or that. Cue the wistful sigh.

Off I go, purchasing these kits, books, and whatnot with a promise to commit oodles of time until I master whatever it is I think I might need to master. Before long, those things are stuck in a dusty bin or given away to someone else (sometimes they get tucked into a Free Little Library in my hood). The problem: either I lose interest…or I quickly learn I don’t have the time to dedicate to another divination tool.

Again: there is still much to learn about tarot and astrology.

Part of me wonders if I’m too old to learn new things. But then I remember all the new stuff I’m learning: painting, writing, cooking, and so forth. I’m always filling my busy brain with something new. So it’s not that I’m too old. I can and do learn.

Perhaps the real reason is my current tools work just fine. Like a good chef’s knife, you only need one or two. All those specialty knives aren’t necessary to make a great meal. Even so, it’s nice to have them just in case. 😉
