The Hit List - Mind your own magic

If you were anywhere in astrology circles this past week, you might have heard people mentioning the “Lion’s gate portal,” a magical manifestation day when the Leo Sun, Sirius, and Orion’s Belt line up with the Earth. It’s also 8/8, a fortunate numerology combo (when you add in 2024, it’s another 8). Sounds groovy, right?

Except…many astrologers have debunked this whole notion. There is no proof that this is even a thing.

Some astrologers have been pretty nasty about it. While the ire is understandable, is it so wrong if some folks find magic in this day?

Frankly, I’m kinda agnostic about magical practices much as I am about religion. Even if there is no proof about gods, I like to be nice to all the gods just in case. I figure if I kick the bucket and learn there is actually a cat god ruling over me all these years, at least my attempt to be reasonable ’n nice might get me past the gates into whatever is on the other side. And if there is nothing except my body composting back into the earth, did it hurt me to be a bit chill with the gods? Nope. (Psst…I wonder dying feels like going through a black hole, which is something I obsess over.)

And when it comes to magical work, I’m totally fine with tossing the dice on a made-up day because…ya never know. What if it actually works?

More importantly, I tend to follow this rule: mind your own magic.

If it works for someone, so be it. If it’s all bunk but gives them a bit of happiness, rock on. If it’s not hurting anyone, carry on. Let people do their thing. At the end of the day, isn’t that what matters? People being free to practice however they feel? Frankly, I don’t really give a rat’s patootie about what someone else is doing, as long as it’s not interfering with my magick/life/peace.

So let’s all calm down, let folks love up their lion stuff, and go on about our own magic business.

xo,
Theresa
