The Hit List - No thank you

This will be the year of “no thank you.”

No thank you to pointless arguments, wasted time, shoes that hurt my feet, boring conversations, needless expenses, and lectures from people I don’t respect.

No thank you to colds, flus, bugs, and viruses. I’m reclusive, so those rarely get in the door.

No thank you to incompetence, a lack of commitment, or wishy-washy anything. I give it my all. If they can’t…no thank you.

No thank you to invitations to events that don’t light me up or pay me enough. No thank you to work that doesn’t feel aligned with my spirit, politics, or joy. No thank you to unequal partnerships or dead-end friendships. No thank you to obligatory relationships (you’re always free to come and go in my world – and I’ll still love you even if we don’t talk for a million years).

No thank you to beige, quiet luxury, clean girl aesthetics. I want loud, bright, black ’n blue, red lips, sharp cat eyeliner, organized mess, David Bowie, Liberace, sequined, hair down to there, and all the book clutter I can muster. I want more, and I want it fast!

No thank you to injustice, ignorance, the politics of cruelty. No thank you to accepting terrible consequences from powerful people making horrible decisions. No thank you to folks starving, unhoused, unloved, unwelcome. No thank you to any of that. Homes, food, water, health care, and a meaningful life for all. Big yes to that.

No thank you to anything that doesn’t lift everyone up.

No thank you to cable news, mainstream media, oligarchs, and potholes. I want the potholes fixed. I don’t think the other things can be.

2025 is my year of no thanks. When I am able to say nope, there is room for yes. Big, joyful, loving yes. Yes, please. But first: no thanks. You can’t get to yes without no.

As tarot readers, we have a responsibility to handle these delicate topics professionally and compassionately.
