I love love love discovering new things. Music, food, books, potions – all of it! 2022 has brought a bunch of fab new goodies. Here’s the list of my favorite things of 2022 (so far)!
Music
Kendrick Lamar: Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers. Hands down, my most-played album this year.
Food
I adore the NY Times Cooking app. I’ve learned how to make some delicious food. Try the Slow Cooker Butter Chicken or Bacon Fried Rice. YUM!
Books
Lessons from the Empress: A Tarot Workbook for Self-Care and Creativity by Cassandra Snow and Siri Vincent Plouff: I keep saying this is the book I wish I wrote. I mean that!
Mastering Magick from Mat Auryn: Mat’s follow-up to Psychic Witch is so, so good.
Ritual by Damien Echols and Lorri Davis: Easy rituals from my favorite magickal duo!
White Tears/Brown Scars: How White Feminism Betrays Women of Color by Ruby Hamad: A MUST-READ book.
Do the Work: An Antiracist Activity Book by W. Kamau Bell and Kate Shatz: This is a great way to learn about anti-racism.
Cultish: The Language of Fanaticism by Amanda Montell: Montell’s work is terrific.
Tranquility by Tuesday: 9 Ways to Calm the Chaos and Make Time for What Matters by Laura Vanderkam: This is a doable book on time management.
The Altar Within: A Radical Devotional Guide to Liberate the Divine Self by Juliet Diaz. You need this book. Nuff said.
Tarot Decks
Weiser Tarot: finally, an updated Rider Waite with gorgeous watercolors and plenty of representation.
Tazama African Tarot: this deck has serious museum-quality vibes.
Totem Tarot Deck: it’s like a black scrying mirror – ideal when you want to free your intuition.
Potions
Totem Lucid Dream: I’m a huge fan of flower essences. This handmade essence from TOTEM has been helping me conjure the most vivid + lucid dreams EVER.
Evil Eye Protection Spray: Sprays are an excellent alternative to incense. This new creation from Eye Love Love has been my go-to spritz for months now!
Beauty supplies
Glossier Lip Balm Dot Com: I was devastated when Kiehl’s got rid of their Balm #1 in a tub. This Glossier Lip Balm works almost as well. (Please Kiehls, bring back the tub!)
Candy
Kinder Bueno Minis: I’ve become seriously addicted to these wee treats. Someone needs to stop me!
The one big thing
Lastly, my Peloton. Lord knows I need this with all those Buenos I’ve been eating! Haha! Seriously though, this contraption has helped rehabilitate my foot and hip.
There ya go. So what are your favorite things this year? What did you discover? I wanna know!
