I’m busy as hell. Running two businesses and managing a household ain’t easy. Plus I’m a creative with way too many ideas and irons in the fire. This can be problematic.
Reason why: I find myself getting pissy if I don’t have time for creative work. I also get mad at myself when I’m falling behind in my responsibilities (paperwork ’n cleaning). I’ve created a solution (because I’m creative haha!).
Two days a month are reserved – one for creativity and the other for anti-procrastination. Creativity Day allows me to focus on writing, brainstorming, and idea-generating. Anti-Procrastination Day means it’s time to get down to business on all the admin and cleaning crap I loathe. There are no excuses on that day.
Believe me, I’d love to have Creativity Day EVERY DAY but that would mean a messy house and scads of things I may not enjoy piling up until it threatens to overwhelm me.
We always hear about carving out time for self-care (people post about Self Care Sunday all the time). So why not make one day a week or month for something you love – or need to do?
For example, maybe you have an Errand Day. Or a Cook Meals For The Week Day. Maybe a Visit A Theme Park or Writing Day. Whatever makes you feel happy or accomplished – find your day and schedule it in. You’ll be glad you did.
Now excuse me because I’ve got stuff to make and I don’t want to procrastinate.
