The Hit List - Like a Chameleon

One of the qualities associated with Geminis is the ability to go with the flow. We’re adaptable. Kinda like chameleons. In times like this, that fluidity is a necessity.

For fixed signs like my Leo daughter, change can be hard. If they’re in charge of making decisions around what needs to transform, they do better. But when life is unpredictable and the rules keep shifting, they get scared – and that can greatly impact how they show up in the world.

A part of me wants to say “get on with it – adapt!”

But I’m not the one who had to cancel a wedding. I’m also not moving during the middle of a pandemic nor am I having to figure out how to find a new job at this time. This is what she and her eventually-to-be husband have had to contend with – all at once.

Meanwhile, I’m in a long-term marriage. My home is paid off. I rarely leave the house as it is because I’ve engineered my life to be reclusive-friendly. So it’s easy to sit back and claim Gemini adaptability as a plus when you don’t have to adapt to much. In an odd way, I’m living her dream…and didn’t even bother to think about that fact when I felt frustrated by her constant stream of complaints about the current state of her world.

This whole virus thing is forcing us all to take a step back and reconsider our way of living – and how other people’s lives might be affected. No doubt this adjustment has been rough, scary, and a total f*ck story for most. Not everyone has the adaptability gene – or a safety net. In some cases, the situations don’t require a “go with the flow” attitude – instead, real help is needed. That help might come through social programs such as food banks, therapy, or a sympathetic ear.

Even if you’re not struggling, or if you’ve found a way to play chameleon and adapt, not everyone has that mindset – or privilege. A bit of empathy now will go a long way in the future. That’s something I can adapt to.

This awesome sign is made by a company called The Thank U Store. I love it so much! You can get one here.
