The other day, a beloved black tourmaline bracelet fell apart. I barely touched it before the beads spilled onto the floor. Black tourmaline is associated with protection, and I wear this bracelet when I feel a funk in my energetic field. Some say the bracelet breaking was a sign that it did the work it was intended to do. Perhaps it protected me from some unseen negative force?
Believe it or not, I do subscribe to that line of thinking.
For a few days before the bracelet broke, I had an odd sense of foreboding, like something was going to happen. But what? Maybe I was too tuned into election drama and the collective tension surrounding that. One of my musical oracles came up randomly more than once (I get certain songs as signs about different situations). This particular song is one of my omens for negativity. I looked around…nothing stood out. Yet, I couldn’t shake the feeling.
Then, the other day, someone informed me that a hater was lurking in an adjacent space. Sigh. I had not thought about this person in a million years. Even hearing their name gave me the ick vibe. I assumed they were out of my orbit, but guess not. Sometimes, hateful folks find a way to keep a tie, even when you clear your attachment. Other times, unwitting types find a way to allow these energy vamps into their doors…and that means you have to tighten yours even more.
Everything is a sign.
Of course, that may sound rather ridiculous. However, I think we all have our superstitions. Maybe you don’t like to walk under a ladder. Or perhaps you have a lucky hat or like to knock on wood. I find superstitions fascinating, even if they seem far-fetched to logical types.
Where do these superstitions originate? Superstitions have existed since ancient times, and many are based on religion. Mine are from personal experiences that seemed far too odd to be coincidences (especially musical oracles!). I also have a few from my parents; although my mother’s warning about a phantom doorbell ringing meant a funeral was on the way has been reduced to rubble since I got a Ring doorbell that goes off all the time. If her prediction worked with my Ring, our entire family would be decimated by now.
Anyhow, I’m off to purchase a new black tourmaline bracelet. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
xo
