Talkin’ Tarot With is a monthly feature designed to introduce my readers to different tarot readers from our wonderfully diverse community! Each month, I’ll be asking various tarot readers 3 questions about their tarot philosophy and style, plus pointing you to their websites and blogs so that you can learn more about them! I like to hand pick tarot readers that I feel are talented and interesting.
I love discovering new tarot talent (thank you internet, for making this easy ‘n possible!). One tarot reader that I’ve enjoyed watching grow is Carrie Jordan of Happy Fish Tarot.
Carrie has a phenomenal blog loaded with free content that is totally original. With features such as her Tarot Tuesday videos, Tarot Niblet (bite sized tarot wisdom), and Tarot Card Meanings (she’s currently going through the Wild Unknown deck!), she’s building a useful online library that is going to delight and benefit tarot fanatics everywhere for years to come! Her caring and sincere presence shines through in every single post and video. You can tell that she loves tarot and cares deeply for her clients as well.
Carrie is also busy behind the scenes creating a series of tarot-inspired guided meditations. These audio journeys will focus on busting through inner blocks, fostering peace, and getting your butt in gear to take action towards your dreams. How cool is that? (Sign me up, pronto!)
Carrie describes herself as “a proponent of creative living, a classy cat lady, and a tarot enthusiast! She helps soul-seekers work through blocks & live deeply by tapping into the wisdom of tarot. She offers heartfelt and practical tarot readings via email.” I’d like to add “the tarot person to watch” to that description. This is a gal who is going places and taking tarot in a very good direction.

Q: What is your philosophy about tarot reading?
Carrie: I think we humans are all trying to make sense of our life’s stories. We have a deep urge to search for meaning and connections. In fact, my own search for a big-picture view of my experiences was what led me to tarot. I was hooked by the recognizable universal themes that tarot taps into.
When I read tarot, I try to tell the stories that I see in the cards. I’m fascinated by Carl Jung’s theory of synchronicity, or meaningful coincidences. On the surface, I’m drawing random cards and laying them out in random positions. Yet a tarot reading always comes together to weave a relatable story – the beauty of synchronicity.
When we receive a tarot reading, we feel expansive. A tarot reading gives validity to our experiences. Tarot readings can help us make huge internal shifts. We feel connected to something greater than ourselves because we see our struggles and triumphs reflected in the cards. A good tarot reading can inspire us to take profound actions to create our own future.
Q: How do you feel a client might get the most out of a reading with you?
Carrie: Different readers are better suited towards different types of readings. I struggled for a long time with creative blocks and emotional turmoil. Tarot was (and still is) a large part of my healing process. Because of my personal experiences, clients who are on a similar path will get a lot out of a reading with me.
I love to write and I blog once a week. I also put up weekly videos on YouTube. Checking out this content helps people get a feel for who I am. If my style jives with you, you’ll likely get good things out of a reading with me!
Q: What is your best piece of advice for an aspiring tarot reader?
Carrie: Focus on your inner work first. If you are grounded and inspired you’ll be able to take that energy and translate it into your readings. Be true to who you are – people will resonate with you when you are open-hearted and authentic. Don’t be afraid to reach out and make friends in the tarot community – I’ve met a lot of awesome readers online! You might want to be a tarot reader to help other people, but you’ll be constantly amazed at how much your work with tarot helps yourself.
