What do you get when you combine astrology, tarot, and rock ‘n roll? The coolest tarot person on the planet: Amelia Quint.

I’ve been digging Amelia’s hip and super smart take on astrology and tarot at The Midheaven for a while. With fun posts such as How Your Rising Sign Can Help You Dress for Success and uber practical ones such as How To Tap Into Your Intuition When Shit Hits the Fan, she’s giving her readers the astro-tarot lowdown in the most modern (and helpful) way.

She’s a total mystical badass who believes that we can take our fate and “shove it against the wall and show it who’s boss.” I LOVE that. Being proactive about your destiny is what her work is all about. Amelia is no fatalist – her work is geared towards those who are ready to know themselves deeply and are working to create meaningful lives. Always evolving, she is constantly cooking up new offerings for her raving fans – including opening up availability for Skype consults (both astrology & tarot) on July 7th and running a limited edition astrology reading called Master Your Midheaven, which will look specifically at the Midheaven in the chart as the secret to maxing out your business mojo (this is uh-may-zing and any biz owner needs to snatch up this offering before it’s gone, daddy, gone!).

In addition to divination, she has a musical background. As the singer of a blues rock band, she’s toured the southeast and recorded an album. (I’m all about anything music so I love that Amelia Fact!)

In my humble opinion, I think Amelia Quint is one of the most promising rising stars in the mystical and sacred arts. This is one to definitely keep your peepers trained on.

What is your philosophy about tarot reading?

Amelia: To me, tarot is like a prism. When the light of our intuition passes through the crystal clear symbols of the tarot, we’re able to see the many colorful opportunities available to us. It’s an illumination process. The magic (and practicality) of tarot as a divination tool lies its ability to reveal hidden things, whether environmental influences, upcoming events, personality traits, or something else entirely. By casting light on the various aspects of a situation using tarot, we can empower ourselves and our clients to move forward with confidence.

How do you feel a client might get the most out of a reading with you?

Amelia: Before I start a reading, I always tell the client to let their preconceived notions go. Whatever you believe tarot is or isn’t, what you believe will or won’t happen in your future, and what you believe you are or are not capable of: you’ve got to shed those things and open up to the story the cards have to share. This always gives a better result! The beauty of tarot (and life!) is that the possibilities at any given moment are infinite. When you embrace that fact and your ability to choose your life path, everything else falls into place.

Also, I remind my clients that tarot is not a passive art. The real magic happens the moment you put the messages from the reading into practice. By combining the wisdom of the tarot with your own willpower, you can take charge of your destiny!

What is your best piece of advice for an aspiring tarot reader?

Amelia: Be audacious. Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want. Of course, that’s not a permission slip to act without respect or kindness towards others. But as long as you are gracious, be willing to put yourself out there. The shrinking violet act won’t do you any favors. Dare to stop taking crap from people and start living your dreams. Trust me, you’ll be so glad you did!
