This will be very short for you see, I am taking a day off.

Taking time away from work was something I rarely did.  For a long time, I was in full on workaholic mode, always on, ready to serve.

Until I realized that this pace was not serving me.  I began to take time off. REAL time off.

It began with arranging my days so that I could have a “sacred pause” in the afternoon.  This might be time for a mug of tea and an episode or Maury – or a little meditation on the couch.

Then, it was proper holidays where I would hang out with my family and just chill the heck out.

The next big step was no longer doing work during vacations.  Yes, I used to keep the email reading option open when I was out of town…until one year I found myself needing to get up extra early so that I could do four hours of email readings.  It no longer felt like a vacation.

The final reorganizing of my work world came this year when I began taking the weekends off (my weekend is Sunday and Monday) from tarot work. I now take the email reading button down every Friday night and it does not go back up until Monday (although this week, I’m keeping it down until tomorrow so that I can enjoy some brats and corn with my husband for Memorial Day).

This time out thing has been good for me – and for my business.

Those periods of rest are necessary because they allow me to refresh my tarot brain and focus on creative pursuits.  This creates a healthy, happy entrepreneur.  Which translates to better service for my clients – and they deserve the best.

If you are running your own game, be sure that you are taking time out to rest and play.  Schedule in daily sacred pauses, regular vacations, and weekends.  Plenty of weekends where you are not working.

This is how a sane business is run.

Now you’ll need to excuse me.  I’ve got some corn to shuck.

Blessings,

Theresa
