If you promise to write a blog post every week, do you?

If you claim you’ll get back to someone immediately, do they hear from you right away?

If you guarantee a forty eight hour turnaround, does that happen every time?

If you say you’re a “workhorse” and able to get things done efficiently, is that true?

When you make a pledge in your business, you must honor it.

That means:

showing up when you say you will

finishing tasks on time

treating your commitments as sacred

not making excuses, ever

A good business is built on keeping your word.  (Surprise: it’s not hard either!)

You must do what you say you will, always.

Let’s give an example of what happens when you reneg on your commitments:

A Reiki teacher says to numerous people that she’s going to start a newsletter for the people who read her blog.

So she puts up a opt-in box on her site and promises to send out weekly emails about Reiki, other healing modalities, and upcoming classes.

Her clients and friends sign up, eager to get this information.

Except it never comes.

She’s too busy.

She has too many problems.

She’s trying to do too many things at once.

People begin to assume she is a putz – or a poor business woman.  She’s less trustworthy because she doesn’t do what she says she will.

They move on to someone who shows up.

And that’s the key: keeping your word is being present and professional.  It’s putting the client first instead of your excuses and “busy life.”  (News flash: we’re all busy.)

When you say you will do something, do it.

Do it to the best of your ability.

Be timely.

Come through.

This is what being a caring, heart centered business owner is all about.

Blessings!
