There is a lot of noise and bragging rights floating out there on the world wide web. Big claims and even bigger promises.
Seven figures! (Six is no longer enough – seven is the new black.)
I only have to work a few hours but make so much money!
Look at all my results!
Guaranteed success!
I’m endorsed by the biggest people in the world!
I’m more successful than the next guy!
I’ve helped millions of people! (Even though I’ve only been in business two years.)
I’m so fancy!
All that hype might make you wonder if you are doing something wrong because maybe your business is doing great but…well, you don’t know if it’s at the “shout worthy” level just yet.
Or perhaps you’re an introvert and not quite comfortable with business braggadocio. (You’re making a healthy, happy income but don’t think anyone needs to have it crammed down their throats. Mama didn’t raise you like that.)
And maybe…just maybe, some of the biggest mouths aren’t as successful as they claim. Look under the hood and you may find some janky stuff. (For example, some business coaches instruct their students to “inflate” their numbers to appear more successful. Think about that for a minute.)
Popular wisdom says to “establish yourself as an expert” and, for some, that means being as loud and flashy as possible about their accomplishments, “celebrity” status, income, etc.
While there is nothing wrong with tooting your own horn, if you prefer using a softer instrument, that’s fine.
Quiet success is just as good as the raucous kind. (In some ways, it’s better.)

Ever read “The Millionaire Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of America’s Wealthy?” In that book, the millionaires profiled are ones who discreetly made their wealth through discipline, sacrifice, and a whole lotta hard work. There is nothing boisterous or glamorous about any of that.
But that is the key for many accomplished people.
They do the work that they love and they create success on their terms without having to boast or make it rain or prove anything to anyone.
They just do the work.
The next time you hear others making loud, puffed-up proclamations, know that you don’t have to do any of that.
Rather than talking about success, just be it.
Blessings,
Theresa
