Doesn’t it feel fabulous when you get a good deal? Don’t ya love it when someone bends over backwards to give you a discount? And haggling is so much fun, right?
Let’s turn that around. Ever have someone dicker with you over your prices? Have you ever given in and then felt like a business doormat later? Are you constantly giving out discounts or bartering because you’re afraid you won’t have the business?
Doesn’t feel so great, does it?
I recently did a Talking Shop with special guest Yolanda Facio where we began discussing discounts. Yolanda mentioned that she doesn’t ever ask another entrepreneur for them because it sets up an energy pattern where deal seekers start showing up in her business.
I have found this to be true too.
Our mindset about money can and does affect what we attract. What you put out often comes back to you (sometimes in surprising ways). If you’re constantly seeking the bare bottom deal, don’t be surprised when the same type of energy shows up in your business world.
Does this mean you should always pay full price? No. A discount offered willingly (without icky pressure) is a wonderful thing (believe me, I use my Gap coupons all the time!).
Instead, it’s about creating a climate of mutual respect and paying people what they ask without trying to force a freebie or push for a barter that they don’t want. It’s about an equal exchange, not “getting something for nothing.” Money is energy and if you are providing a valuable service, you should be paid a living wage – and you should also be mindful that anyone you are doing business with is receiving the same.
Change the way you treat other heart centered entrepreneurs and you change your own business vibration.
Ready to shift energy so that more prosperity flows your way without breaking your bank?
Here’s what to do:
Only invest in products that you want or need. That way, when you put down your own hard earned cash, you’ll feel good about it. When I make a purchase, it’s rarely on impulse and it’s always conducted with respect and joy. That puts a positive vibe into every exchange.
Stop seeking freebies. That doesn’t mean you don’t take coupons or discounts when offered but aggressively pushing for it is a no-no. If the price is firm and it feels like a budget stretch, find something that is more in your price range. If you feel comfortable and delighted to pay, this sets up a vibe for happy paying clients to pay you what you’re worth too.
Keep bartering to a minimum. Instead, pay people for their services and keep the flow of money energy moving. Only barter if it is a service that you absolutely love and need – and is equal in value for both parties. (Check out this fantastic post on bartering from my dear friend, Beth Owl’s Daughter.)
If someone gives you a good deal, say thank you. Show that you appreciate their generosity. A grateful pocket always attracts more riches.
Although haggling and bartering are acceptable practices in many parts of the world (and in many industries such as autos), keep that energy to a minimum in your world, especially when it comes to your soulful business and the way you interact with your fellow mystics. Treat every transaction with respect and you’ll see that magic translating into more prosperity for your business.
Blessings!
