Growing up, my family was dirt poor.
Both of my parents had an 8th grade-level education. Our household was far from glamorous. There was no shiny convertible with a big red bow on top to commemorate my 16th birthday.
But my father wanted a better life for me than the one he was living.
He insisted that I take business classes in high school, even though I resisted. I wanted to be a cool punk rock rebel, not some stuffy CEO!
But thanks to my dad, I discovered — at a very early age — that I have an uncanny knack for business. It’s hardwired into my DNA. It’s what I was meant to do.
I have been running a healthy, profitable business for over 25 years, and I’ve been doing it my way.
When people say to me, “25 years is a friggin’ long time! How do you stay energized and keep your business fresh and profitable, every single year?”
My answer is pretty darn simple:
“Every year, I do a forecast. I look at the stars & I look at the cards. They show me everything I need to know to help my empire grow. And then… I make a PLAN.”
I’ve been doin’ my “annual business forecast” for decades, and it has served me well.
This year, I finally gave it a name:
Each year, when I do an Entrepreneurcast for my business, I feel seriously empowered. I can see all of the ideal dates for product launches, and I circle ‘em on my calendar. I can spot hidden opportunities, as well as potential drama to avoid. I’ve got insights into what my customers want & need. It’s all mapped out, planned out, rock-solid and clear.
By the time I’m done with my Entrepreneurcast, I’ve got something that most entrepreneurs (sadly) don’t:
A clear intention for the entire year.
And that’s really the “secret” to my business success over the past quarter-century:
Being intentional.
Being intentional when it comes to my words.
Being intentional when it comes to my actions.
Being intentional when it comes to my products and services.
Being intentional when it comes to the way I treat my customers.
Being intentional with my timing, my pacing and with how I recharge and take care of myself.
Being intentional doesn’t mean that you “know all the answers” or that everything is going to work out exactly as you’ve planned.
Being intentional means that you are directing your energy where it counts.
If you want more clarity about where you oughta be directing your energy in 2015 — guess what? You can book an Entrepreneurcast with me!
This is the first time (ever!) that I’m offering these 12-month forecasts especially for business owners. I am SO excited because I looove talkin’ business and I want you to have the best possible year. (Get all the details, here. It’s only available for a limited time to a small number so be nimble ‘n quick.)
Whether you choose to book an Entrepreneurcast or not, this is an excellent time to make some new plans and set fresh things in motion.
To help you get started, I’ve got a question for you:
What’s your business intention for the rest of 2014?
We’ve got 53 days left in the year before 2015 begins.
How are you going to maximize the time? How will you treat your customers? How will you show up? What’s rolling out — and what’s getting retired?
Hit me up on Twitter and share your business intention for the end of 2014.
I can’t wait to see where you’re going to be directing your energy between now & the New Year.
Intentionality changes everything.
Hell YES to feeling focused and clear.
