New Moon in Taurus 2020 - and Tarot Readings for Each Zodiac Sign

The New Moon in Taurus 2020 will be here on Wednesday, April 22nd, at 10:26 PM EDT. This is my favorite New Moon for all things money but it is sandwiched between two potentially challenging aspects, so you’ll want to approach with caution if you want to avoid being like a bull let loose in a china shop.

The first aspect is a square between the Moon and Saturn at 6:59 PM. The Taurus New Moon wants to put energy into the material realm while Saturn in Aquarius says “what about the collective?” Before setting intentions (my fave New Moon activity), you’ll want to reflect on your relationship with consumerism and how you’re interacting with the world at large. What’s your carbon footprint? How are you taking care of Mother Earth? Are you sharing your resources with other people or hoarding the goodies for yourself? What can you contribute to make the world a better, more equitable place for all? Consider all of these queries. (Psst…it’s also Earth Day so get global with your thinking!)

The other aspect is a Moon-Uranus conjunction, which happens on Thursday, the 23rd at 4:29 AM, a few hours after the New Moon. Uranus loves to shake things up and wants innovation. This means Thursday morning could bring sudden changes, both good or bad. It’s unpredictable like that. The news of the day may be a nail biter as the economy tries to adjust to the ups and downs of the pandemic. Patience (and a strong stomach) are needed on Thursday until this energy eases up.

In between all of this astro-madness is the glorious New Moon in Taurus, the best New Moon for getting right with your money. How can you do that when everything seems so unstable? Start with the practical actions such as revamping your budget, asking for a raise, upping your rates, cleaning out your wallet, balancing the checkbook, or creating a debt repayment plan. Take the bull by the horns and you could get on the right hoof once and for all.

I’m also a fan of setting intentions on the New Moon. I’ve been doing this practice for years – and it has created magic in my life. For this lunation, you’ll want to set intentions around security and prosperity. Think about how much you want – and need – to make first. Then write a list of intentions and wishes in a journal. Intentions are like planting seeds for the future. As you write those good wishes down, the Universe can work with you to find the growth. Taurus is ruled by Venus so another good use of Wednesday’s energy is to indulge in a few sensuous delights – a long bubble bath at the end of the day, a few chocolates with a mug of hot tea, or getting it on with your significant other (psst…or by yourself!). A little pleasure today is sooooo soothing.

Lastly, I’d like to add that this New Moon is ideal for slowing down and practicing a bit of patience. Life is challenging and folks are feeling some type of way at this time. It’s too easy to get bullheaded and start the blame game. Let’s all try to take a step back and examine how we might be just a bit more tolerant. Soon enough, life will move on. But until that happens, kindness, common courtesy, and a whole lotta patience will go a long way. We’re in this together and together we’ll persevere, slow and steady toward a sweet finish – which is about as Taurus as you can get.
