Guerilla Tarot

If you want to get a crystal clear idea of how you read and where you need to improve, there is nothing better than taping yourself doing a tarot reading.

My students loathe this Tarotcise. Why?  No one likes to hear themselves on tape.  We get super self conscious and uptight when the little red light on that recorder starts glowing.

But dig this: once you listen back to the recording, you’ll be able to glean valuable insights into your strengths and weaknesses as a reader.  Every um, every stammer, every blank space will give you the inside scoop on: cards that trip you up, subjects that make you uncomfortable and when you are allowing your own insecurities to speak louder than the cards.

This is gold, baby!  Once you have an idea of where you are struggling, you’ll know where you need to work harder.

For example, let’s say the Hierophant card makes you sputter like a motor.  Knowing that is a red flag that you need to get cozy with that Hierophant on a regular basis until you become BFFs.

Wanna challenge yourself more?  Do this exercise with a group of fellow tarot fanatics and then listen to each other’s recordings and give feedback.  It’s going to make you all queasy but again, this is going to help you get over yourself, find your problem spots and get confident.

Ready to go super horror movie scary?  VIDEO yourself.  I’m serious.  Not many of us like to tarot vogue in front of the camera but this will really push you to move past your hang ups.  (For the record, I hate having my picture or video taken so much that I’d rather give birth to twins….breech.  That being said, I still enjoy doing this exercise – I am just sure to erase that shizz so it never sees the light of day!)

There’s another little benefit that comes from this activity: in time, you’ll become less freaked by it and soon you’ll be reading smooth as butter when that record button gets pushed.  If you are a pro, this will give you the cojones to begin offering recordings to your clients and that is a juicy bonus that they will appreciate.

Get over your fears and get ready for your close up, darling!

Blessings!

Theresa
