Gonzo Tarot – Tarot Singalong

Next to tarot, I’m bonkers for music.  Recently, I’ve created a fun little tarotcise that combines the two.

I’m calling it my “tarot singalong”. 

Here’s what you do:

Pick a song.  As you listen to it, start laying out cards for each line in the song.  You’re going to have be quick (especially if you are listening to rap or thrash metal!).  I’ve found that if I lay out the deck in order, this makes it easier for me to keep along with the song.   (Which means putting the whole thing on the floor because my tarot table isn’t big enough!).

If you don’t want to rush through it, simply find the lyrics for a song you like and then pick corresponding cards to each line.

Here’s a sample of how it works using the song “Do You Realize” by The Flaming Lips:

Do You Realize – that you have the most beautiful face (The Empress)

Do You Realize – we’re floating in space (The Moon)

Do You Realize – that happiness makes you cry  (Ten of Cups)

Do You Realize – that everyone you know someday will die (Death)

 

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes – let them know (2 of Cups)

You realize that life goes fast (Judgement)

It’s hard to make the good things last (9 of Cups)

You realize the sun doesn’t go down (The Sun)

It’s just an illusion caused by the world spinning round (Wheel of Fortune)

This is another great way to increase your speed and to create new mnemonics to help you retain the card meanings.  I’ve had a blast with this tarotcise and I think you might enjoy it too!  Try it out and let me know what you think.
