A friend asked me this question: “I was supposed to be born in November (Scorpio, like my mom) but then I was late! I was born in December (Sagittarius, like my dad). Astrologically speaking, what does it mean when you’re “supposed” to be one star sign, but then you’re born late (or early) and you wind up being a different sign?”
Good question!
First: a story. I’m a planning fanatic. My husband says control freak is a better word for that. Whatever.
When I decided to have children, I was mostly concerned about their astrological makeup. Which meant that all of my conception dates were meticulously planned to ensure I’d get a kid who’d be compatible with me. I was both a young astrologer and mother so my priorities were a bit…immature.
Anyhow, when I got pregnant with my daughter, the due date was August 15th and as I glanced over the planets for that day, everything pointed to what I assumed would be the perfect child. I wanted a Leo because they are brave and creative. It looked like I would get my little lion and they’d have a nice splash of Virgo in their makeup, which worked great with my mutable-heavy chart. I was envisioning a sweet-natured, easy-going artsy type.
Except my daughter came three weeks early.
As I pulled her astrology chart together in the hospital, my main worry was that I’d be stuck with a Cancer child (which is a fear about as stupid as it gets because I actually love my Cancer friends). Lo and behold, she managed to squeak into Leo BUT almost every planet in her chart was in fixed signs – and too much Leo (is there such a thing? YES.). Which said: this is going to be a challenging one for you. Instead of the sweet little kitten I was expecting, I got a real lion – one that would demand center stage and need applause.
I cried when I saw that chart and wondered how on earth I was going to handle her.
Needless to say, she was stubborn and queenly as can be – there was nothing mild about this one.
That’s a long way of saying this: it doesn’t matter what your due date is. What matters is what your birthdate is, period. That’s what determines your astrological makeup.
Also, keep in mind that due dates are calculated by menses and in most cases that is problematic because periods don’t always arrive like clockwork. Many women have irregular periods so those due dates may be close but they aren’t “accurate.”
Therefore, you come into the world when you come and the astrology chart you get is the chart you get. Just because you’re due on one date doesn’t mean diddly squat. It does not impact your personality or your life. You don’t get those cool Scorpio vibes when you’re born late and end up being a Sagittarius or come early and are a Libra (unless you happen to have other planets in Scorpio, of course).
Years ago, I met a girl who was born on my daughter’s due date. She was sweet and meek, and probably the perfect child. I realized that I would have been bored silly with her. The truth is: my sassy, demanding daughter was perfect for me. She came right on time to be the person she was meant to be.
Blessings,
Theresa
