Everyone knows that I’m a book and tarot deck fanatic. Nothing makes me happier than curled-up with a great book or thumbing through an interesting tarot deck. With Halloween just around the corner, I’m sharing my favorite new witchy books and tarot decks. Grab a mug of spiked punch, and check out these dope recommendations!
When I was a little girl, I used to pore over the ads for witchcraft in the National Enquirer mom used to pick up from time to time. I read every word carefully, dissecting all the fine details, and fantasizing about the “powers” I would get once I saved up for those books. Needless to say, when I finally saw them in the real world, I was mighty disappointed. They weren’t as cool as I had hoped.
Psychic Witch is the kind of book I longed for. This is a beautifully written, highly practical book on witchcraft and intuition. The tips and practices are easy to follow, which makes this perfect for curious sorts who want to explore witchcraft – or for experienced witches who want to deepen their practice. For folks interested in honing their psychic abilities, this is a must-have book that belongs in a special spot on your bookshelf. I cannot say enough good things about Psychic Witch.
I met Madame Pamita a few years ago at a drinking hole in Los Angeles. I’ve been a fan of her work for some time but that fateful night, we became friends. Her newest book, The Book of Candle Magic, is not only gorgeous to look at (the cover and illustrations made my heart happy), but also filled with everything you need for effective candle magic, including how to “read” the wax! Everything you ever wanted to know about candle magic is in this book.
My journaling practice is essential for my well-being. I’m always on the hunt for guided journals. Gabriela Herstik’s Embody Your Magick is the perfect journal for witches and magickal folks looking for a little introspection. You’ll get much more than you expect as you work your way through the prompts.
OMFG is what I said when I unwrapped The Art of The Occult, a stunning compilation of mystical art. I’ve spent countless hours paging through this book, getting lost in the images and notes. S. Elizabeth created a masterpiece!
When I opened up this tarot deck, my first thought was “I know what deck I’m using for Halloween!” The Murder of Crows Tarot is moody, spooky, and altogether ooky. I’m in love with this ghostly deck – and you will be too!
Confession: The Telltale Heart always scared the hell out of me. The thought of that heart beating under the floorboards: YIKES! The spirit of Edgar Allan Poe is captured wonderfully in this new Edgar Allan Poe tarot deck from Rose Wright and artist Eugene Smith. Quote the raven: you need this more! Haha!
Lastly, I’m in love with the True Heart Intuitive Tarot. It’s written by none other than actress Rachel True of The Craft, the ultimate witchy movie! The deck is lovely but my favorite part is the book, which is part memoir, filled with some of True’s personal stories. These tales bring the tarot cards to life – and help you see the powerful, magical woman behind The Craft.
I hope you enjoy this list of witchy books and tarot decks! You know what to do: get shopping friends.
Happy Halloween!
