Talkin’ Tarot With is a monthly feature designed to introduce my readers to different tarot readers from our wonderfully diverse community!  Each month, I’ll be asking various tarot readers 3 questions about their tarot philosophy and style, plus pointing you to their websites and blogs so that you can learn more about them!  I like to hand pick tarot readers that I feel are talented and interesting.

Talkin' Tarot with Connie Kick of Kickin' It Tarot.

Here in Wisconsin, we have a friendly professional tarot scene. Instead of viewing each other as rivals, we’re supportive. From what I hear, that’s uncommon. In many other cities, the vibe leans towards cut throat. I’m lucky to have fine colleagues like Connie Kick of Kickin’ it Tarot Style, a woman I consider not just a peer but a dear friend.

A true Leo, Connie has a big personality and a huge heart. She’s also a mega-tarot talent. In fact, she’s one of my go-to referrals when I’m overbooked. I know that my clients are safe in her capable, loving hands.

Connie has been reading tarot professionally for a few years. She offers one-on-one sessions and is one of the featured readers at the annal Bastille Days event. Those who are fortunate enough to be near her Kenosha hood also get to study with her directly in her popular monthly Kickin’ it Tarot Style workshops. In those classes, she teaches about the history of Tarot,  traditional meanings, spreads, and how to personalize your readings. A rising star in the national tarot scene, Connie has also taught workshops at The Readers Studio and Northwest Tarot Symposium.

If you’re ready for a friendly, honest tarot reading or looking for an inspiring teacher, get to know Connie. She is the real deal!

Check out her answers to my questions below:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Q:  What is your philosophy about tarot reading?
Connie: As a reader I see myself as a guide.   I like to be straight with my clients, I’m not hard core but I wont sugar coat shit either.  I don’t hear voices, I don’t talk to dead people, I don’t see things however, I do feel.  I am able to feel the energy of the client and read the images of the cards and put it together that way.
Q:    How do you feel a client might get the most out of a reading with you?
Connie: A client will get the most out of a reading if they keep an open mind, accept what comes up and understand that a tarot reading is a suggestion, a path in the crossroad, it’s not set in stone.   Also understand that clear questions equal clear answers and don’t ask a question if you can’t hear the truth.
Q:   What is your best piece of advice for an aspiring tarot reader?
Connie: PUT THE DAMN BOOK DOWN!!!!  You’ll never read intuitively if you only rely on the info in the book.  Use the book as a reference only.  There is no wrong or right to Tarot.  Always, keep you heart in it.  Always read from the heart even if you have a painful message to tell.  Don’t be fake! people see through that shit. You can never ever ever learn everything about Tarot!   Go to as many classes, events, on line tutorials etc.  (Great place to start is www.thetarotlady.com!)
