Dear fellow mystical entrepreneur,
This work that you do, it’s not easy. But as they say, nothing worthwhile ever is.
I know that you are doing what you do because you felt called to serve. Your heart is in the right place… it’s in your work and everything you do. Most of the time, you love your work.
Other times, you don’t.
The rude client. The skeptic. The peer that wants to make you feel as if you are less-than. The relative that rolls their eyes. Those types make you question what you are doing. That flack may make you want to crawl right back into your little metaphysical shell.
Difficult people are bad enough but other things nip at your sensitive soul: those months when the sales don’t come in and you’re biting your nails to nubs as the bills do. Yeah, that. Not many people talk aloud about that vibe. Most of the time, you might look around and see others bragging about their six figures and you wonder “what am I doing wrong?”
You’re not doing anything wrong. Don’t resent the ones who are killing it (for all you know, they may not actually be).
Not when you are showing up, day after day. Hanging in there, putting on a smile even on those days when personal issues are looming large. Just by showing up and doing the work, you are doing something amazing. You are helping people. That’s pretty big.
Keep going.
Doing this work requires a big heart and tons o’ courage.
Every fellow spiritual entrepreneur will tell you that. Even those of us who have been at our grind for many years still have those Sally Field moments (“You like me…you really like me!”) mixed in with gut-churning anxiety. But we still show up, day after day too.
It’s because we believe in our work.
And we love the people in our care (yes, even those challenging ones).
We love what we do.
That love trumps all the hard parts.
Stay centered in that love, gather your courage, and keep on doing your very best. I know you will.
